PROJECT
brief
The start to every residential lighting design or architectural lighting project begins with the all-important brief.
A visit to the Joseph Read lighting showroom is always welcome, as it's your opportunity to come and see our range of integral and decorative lights in situ.
You can also learn how each element is so important in creating the best lighting solutions that transform spaces into beautifully inviting environments.

THE
site visit
A comprehensive design site visit gives us a good feel of the area, allowing us to thoroughly assess all aspects of the space.
By evaluating the surrounding architecture and environment, we then can move on to develop sophisticated lighting solutions that enhance and elevate your area to its fullest potential.
DESIGN
intent
To get lighting design right, it's important to have a goal-focused discussion around design intent.
We focus on understanding your specific requirements while examining the vistas within your space. Priority is given to highlighting any art or architectural features, along with considering effective lighting control to create the perfect ambiance.
TAILORED
quote
Before we commence the lighting design, a detailed quote is provided which lays out clear and transparent prices in a customised proposal.
We focus on presenting all costs upfront for your agreement, allowing you to proceed with confidence and certainty.

FULL
design
Once the project is agreed, we can make a start on developing tailored lighting design concepts and drawings.

To facilitate this process, we need an architectural floorplan with clear layouts. The design phases typically spans 2 to 4 weeks depending on the extent of rooms.
This phase culminates in a comprehensive layout, schedule and fittings specification for contractors to follow easily and efficiently.

ARCHITeCTURAL LIGHTING
procurement
We take responsibility for your lighting procurement, guaranteeing that all light fittings are ordered precisely according to the provided design schedule and specifications.
Part of the process in getting your lights sent out includes ensuring that all items are clearly labeled for contractors, facilitating a streamlined installation process.

SITE VISITS FROM
Zara Vaux
Prior to electrical first fix, a second lighting design site visit from Zara is an essential step in aligning all contractors and ensuring readiness for installation.
We always advise conducting further onsite progress checks and second fix inspections to confirm that every detail adheres to your specifications before the final installation.

INSTALLATION &
completion
The professional responsibility of the lighting installation is handled by an elected electrical contractor, building contractor or directly with you as the client. We prioritise responsibility and communication, working to meet your specific needs.

At project completion, our lighting installation checks ensure everything is in perfect order by closely coordinating with the electrical contractor and arranging final control programming. This meticulous process guarantees that your lighting system functions seamlessly and meets all design and architectural specifications.
